Don’t Miss Sessions at PRSM’s 2015 National Conference

PRSM 2015 National Conference

If you’re a retail facilities management professional, it’s likely you’re gearing up for next month’s PRSM 2015 National Conference in Philadelphia, Mon-Wed, April 27 – 29.  We’ll be there of course (exhibiting in Booth #1007) and would be pleased to discuss our FM software for retail brands of all shapes and sizes.  If you’re responsible for managing multiple stores, let’s talk.  You can arrange a time to meet or just stop by!

To make the most of your time there, we’ve put together a short list of some of the sessions that are worth checking out.

Get Along with Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere

Arnold Sanow, MBA, CSP

The workplace is constantly changing and getting more and more diverse.  What goes over well with one generation does not necessarily work with another.  This session will focus on the time tested communication and personal factors that are important to build rapport, relationships and connections with everyone regardless of age. Participants will acquire skills to equip them with specific solutions that work for all age groups.

Go Green When You Clean

Dan Wagner, Director of Facility Service Programs, ISSA – The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association

Sustainability.  “Going green.” Sure, it works for recycling and energy, but what about cleaning?  Green cleaning plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of building occupants as well as protecting the environment…and it can play a crucial role in differentiating your services from your competition.

Project Runway: How to Truly ‘Model’ Your Best Leadership

Drew DudleyFormer Director of one of North America’s largest university leadership development programs

If the runway is where designers translate their fashion visions into reality, your daily life (both at home and at work) is where your leadership values are modeled for everyone around you: co-workers, employees, friends, even your children.  In other words, life is a daily catwalk on which you demonstrate what you really stand for.  Like a model on a fashion runway, when you’re a leader, all eyes are on you.  But have you ever taken a moment to ask yourself, “if someone sat in the front row of my life, watching how I behaved on a day-to-day basis, what kind of values would they assume are most important to me?”

Are you really “making it work” when it comes to modeling your leadership values?  This session will challenge you to ask whether your planning embodies the values most important to you, or simply hoping to do so.  It will lay out a process to ensure your daily behavior is consistent with the leadership vision you have for yourself, and allow some of your colleagues to model how they have done just that over the past few weeks.

Replace, Repair, Defer: Evaluating and Managing Capital Assets

Gregory Longtin, RFMP, Longtin Energy Services, LLC

Jim Winkler, RFMP, Wiedenbach-Brown

You are one phone call away from having to make a snap decision!  What data is necessary to determine and defend a capital acquisition or repair expense?  Through a visual tour of a facility, you will learn three critical questions to ask each time to determine; replace, repair or defer?  Through dialogue (and possible debate) with others in the session, review actual facility issues requiring the FM to make timely decision impacting either in a positive or negative way towards your budget and bottom line.
